The Jennings City Clerk of Court’s office had 3 different departments:

  1. Civil:  Banks, finance companies, garnishments and loans between individuals come through the Clerk of Court’s office to file legal charges.
  2. Criminal:  All misdemeanors and criminal charges at the city level are filed in the City Clerk of Court’s office.
  3. Traffic:  All City traffic and DWI tickets issued are handled through the City Clerk of Court’s office.

Q.  Where do I go to pay a speeding ticket?
A. If it is a ticket issued by a Jennings Police Officer, you pay it at the City Clerk of Court’s office.

Q.  Where do I go to pay a speeding ticket issued by a State Trooper?
A. You would pay this ticket at the Jeff Davis Parish Courthouse, in the office of the District Judge.

Q.  Someone took my dog and I know who it is.  Can I file charges against them here?
A. No, you must first go to the Jennings Police Department and make a statement.  The Police will then refer you back to the City Clerk
of Court’s office.
